About Us

Our Family

We moved to France from Canada with our 3 elementary school aged children for a year in August, 2016.   We loved it so much that after our return to Canada we figured out how to come back for a second year.

My husband Tris runs our family business, which has given us the freedom to live on another continent.  Find out more at thesmalltownguy.com

Our 3 children are adapting in their own ways to a new life in France.  We’ve found lots of ways to make it easier for them to adapt, in a new school system and living in a different language.   They are doing all the things they can do at home: such as join the choir, soccer team, gymnastics, and chess club, and get together or have sleepovers with friends.  They also get to have 5 course meals at school and are adapting to a new language at a pace we just can’t.

And myself, Karen, I’m soaking in the village and countryside lifestyle here, and continuing to find ways to help our family live and travel on our same budget as we have at home.
